Newark, OH—C-TEC’s new adult education massage therapy clinic, The Zen Garden, is set to open February 2, 2012. The clinic will be open to the public regularly on Thursdays from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling 740-364-2280.
“As part of our new massage therapy program at C-TEC, students are required to perform massage therapy on the public, which allows students to develop their skills,” said Lynda Duck, LMT, instructor of the program. “Clients can choose from a full-body massage or an upper body massage for general relaxation. All massage is performed under the direct supervision of our licensed massage therapy staff.”
The Zen Garden will offer three services: the 50 minute relaxation massage, the 40 minute upper body massage, and the 20 minute chair massage. Prices range from $16.05-$32.10 including tax. The clinic accepts only cash or check and no tips are accepted from patrons.
Massage therapy has been proven to provide both mental and physical benefits that include reduced stress and anxiety, increased blood circulation, reduced tension and fatigue, relief to muscle and joint soreness, increased joint flexibility, and more.
C-TEC’s adult education division has started the licensed massage therapy program in response to a need in the workforce as determined by their Healthcare Advisory Board and the 2016 Ohio Job Outlook and Employment Projects report from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The report projects an 18.7% increase in employment for massage therapists in Ohio between 2008 and 2018 with annual openings of 118. There is an expanding role for licensed massage therapists in chiropractic practices, hospitals, and in dental offices.
