C-TEC dedicates new burn building with open house, live demonstration |

Newark, OH-----C-TEC opened its new burn building last week by hosting community members, donors, faculty and staff, students and other dignitaries during their project completion showcase. The new burn building will provide first-hand training for students in both the high school firefighting and adult education public safety programs.
The building is made up of two stories of trailers and was built on the school's campus with $54,940 of donations and $134,965 in weighted funds that is required to be spent for career training programming. The burn building will allow students in both the high school and adult education programs will be able to receive strong training in a number of varied scenarios that will benefit their educational experience.
During the project completion showcase, C-TEC students assisted community leaders and school officials in preparations for taking part in a live burn to experience what the students would experience in their training. Those who participated in the live burn included C-TEC Superintendent Joyce Malainy, Granville Exempted Village Schools Superintendent Jeff Brown and Newark Mayor Bob Diebold.
